RINSHI-NO-MORI PARK – Embracing the Serenity and Natural Power of Majestic Trees | Meguro & Shinagawa, Tokyo

スポンサーリンク

Welcome to TOKYO FREE PARKS, the site that introduces you to the best free parks in Tokyo. This time, we’re introducing Rinshi-no-mori Park, which spans across Meguro and Shinagawa wards. This park is considered the birthplace of Japan’s forestry research and had been managed under the Forestry Agency. Its standout feature? A variety of tree species that you can explore.

Symbolic Tree

Within the park, you’ll find trees with trunks exceeding 3 meters in girth, boasting a history of over 100 years. Thick roots of Zelkova, Camphor, Poplar, and Horse Chestnut trees cling firmly to the earth, stretching powerfully high into the sky. Among them, the “Giant Camphor” in the grassy square is truly a sight to behold, serving as the park’s symbolic tree.

Picturesque World

Rinshi-no-mori Park was once a wetland. Now, the upper and lower ponds are connected by a small waterway, creating a soothing babbling brook. When the Japanese Maples turn vibrant in autumn, they create a breathtaking vista alongside the ponds.

We also recommend the picturesque view of the rakusyo forest surrounding the pond as seen from the bridge.

A Gathering Place for Children

Jabu Jabu Pond

Jabu Jabu Pond is designed for children up to lower elementary school levels to enjoy summer water play. It brings joy to numerous children every year. Adorned with Shira Goyoseki stone, it features animal designs carved into the stones.

Play Equipment

The adventure playground boasts athletic equipment, while the toddler’s play area features slides, seesaws, and sandpits. These safe play spaces ensure that children can have a blast.
