Welcome to TOKYO FREE PARKS. This time, we’ll be introducing HAGINAMA PARK, located right near Haneda Airport. Whether you’re staying nearby or looking to give your children some extra fun before heading back home, this is a highly recommended spot.
Let’s Have a Blast at the ‘Junkyard Park’!
One of the major attractions of this park is its impressive array of play equipment. A particular section of the park is even known as the “Garakuta Park,” or the “Junkyard Park” due to its unique collection of real vehicles that have been repurposed into a play area for kids. You’ll find a steam locomotive, a firetruck, boats, and more – all set up for children to play on and experience a sense of being a driver. For kids who love vehicles, this place is an absolute delight!
There is also playground equipment with a space shuttle motif, as Ota Ward, where this park is located, is home to factories that manufactured parts for various space probes such as “Hayabusa.”
In the center, there’s a massive slide designed in the shape of a truck. It features a tunnel within the truck’s tire section and unique elements like old tires used for stairs. The wide slide allows multiple kids to slide down together, holding hands and enjoying the ride.
Apart from the Junkyard Park area, you’ll also discover plenty of other play equipment, including low-height structures that are perfect for younger children.
Enjoy Cycling on the Miniature Roads!
Another distinct feature of this park is the traffic park where you can rent bicycles and pedal go-karts for free. With proper traffic signals in place, it’s a place where kids of all ages, from toddlers to elementary school students, can have a great time practicing their cycling skills.
